Guitarist REB BEACH Says New Project Will Not Be Named DEVIL CHILDREN
February 23, 2005WHITESNAKE guitarist Reb Beach has contacted BLABBERMOUTH.NET to refute previously published reports (including those posted on the official and unofficial KING'S X web sites) that his new collaborative project with KING'S X bassist/vocalist Doug Pinnick has been named DEVIL CHILDREN.
Commented Reb, "The name of the band is DEFINITELY not DEVIL CHILDREN, it's just one of the names of the songs. The label [Frontiers Records] wanted the name to be KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, which Doug and I both hated, and he said 'I like DEVIL'S CHILDREN better than that.' So, we are still working on the name and I am going over the names [that have been suggested on the Reb Beach web site] with the all-knowing Kip [Winger]. We have to pick one in the next week or so."
As previously reported, the upcoming CD will include the lineup of Beach, Pinnick, WHITESNAKE keyboardist Timothy Drury (EAGLES, DON HENLEY),and QUIET RIOT drummer Frankie Banali. The music is said to range "from DREAM THEATER-like synth-fused material to BADLANDS-sounding '80s-influenced riffs."
Stated Reb: "I am trying to keep it heavy, but not as dark as 'Masquerade' [Beach's solo album]. As always, I am trying for the big pay off choruses, but what makes it cool, and not syrupy, are Doug's MANLY vocals and cool lyrics."
